In Celebration of the Life of Dixie Jewel Littles Johnson
Dixie Jewel Littles Johnson of West Chester, PA made her transition on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 2:20 AM.
She was born on December 2, 1932 in Lake Wales, Florida. Dixie was the oldest child of Gladys Littles Green and Perry Littles. Gladys decided to move her two girls, Dixie and Ethel, to West Chester, PA when she was 14 years old.
Dixie received her education in the West Chester area school system as a top scorer on the girl's basketball team. She subsequently graduated from West Chester State University with a B.A. degree in Education. Dixie worked as a physical education and health teacher at West Philadelphia High School for over 40 years.
On June 25, 1955, Dixie married Richard C. Johnson, Sr., her high school sweetheart. Dixie and Richard were married for 23 years, raising two children and many pets. They divorced during the 1980's.
In conjunction with her many accomplishments, Dixie was a natural born leader. Her leadership was prevalent in both her work and personal life. She served as President of The Retired Women of Chester County and participated in many committees. At work, Dixie coached the cheerleaders at West Philly High School for several years.
Dixie's favorite past-time activity was "going to gamble." She would visit Las Vegas and other casinos in California with her sister and friends every year. While in West Chester, she often traveled to Atlantic City with her long-time friends, Maxine and Jim, Anna or Jackie, while also making new friends. Dixie loved to collect dolls, antiques, china and buy clothes. She was ALWAYS Sharp.
On June 26, 2010, Dixie returned to Forever and we will forever remember her spirit.
Remaining to cherish her memory, honor and celebrate her life are her sister, Ethel Neal and two adult children, Karen J. Carter of Marina del Rey, CA and Richard Carl Johnson, Jr., of West Chester, PA; two grandchildren, Evan Nicole and Erin Michelle Carter; two nieces, Teena Lewis and Tracey Neal; one great niece, Elexis' Mann all living in California; Dixie loved living in West Chester; sister friends, Alice, Anna, Beverly, Doris, Maxine and many, many, others too great in number to name.
Her parents, Gladys Green, Harvey Green, Perry, Altamese Littles and her one and only husband, Richard Johnson, Sr., all preceded her in the journey to The Eternal.
