Mrs. Philena F. Steele Jarrett, of Collegeville, formerly of Downingtown, passed away from this life on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the Suburban Woods Health and Rehabilitation Center of Norristown.
Mrs. Jarrett was the wife of the late Samuel E. Jarrett, Sr., whom she shared 57 years of marriage.
Mrs. Jarrett was born June 17, 1931 in West Chester, the daughter of the late John Steele and Tacie Cooper Steele. She was raised in West Chester and attended West Chester Area Schools. She devoted her life as a mother and home keeper.
Mrs. Jarrett was a faithful member of the Church of Christ at Norristown, where her son-in-law serves as the minister. She was active in the Ladies' Bible Class, the monthly fellowships and various outreach activities. She will be sorrowfully missed by her church family.
Mrs. Jarrett is survived by four daughters, Cynthia T., wife of John Tucker, of Roy, Washington, Bernadette C. Rice of Newark, Delaware, Philena M., wife of Bro. George E. Myers, III, of Collegeville, PA and Leslie N., wife of Clark Gilliam of Atglen, PA; a son, Criag A. and wife Deborah of Atglen, PA; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren; one brother, Leonard Steele, Sr. of Atglen, PA; two sisters, Marjorie Steele of West Chester and Ethel Holmes of Hartford, CT and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mrs. Jarrett is preceded in death by one son, Sammuel E. Jarrett, Jr. in 1996; three brothers, John, Horace, and William Steele and one sister, Joan Smith
